When I ask a person, “What do you want?”
And they say, “I want Trump to not be President.”
Wow. Just think on that for a minute. What had to have happened to turn a person’s “I want” statement turn into a “I don’t want” statement?
I’ve said it before, plan to say it again: “If you are being urged to vote based upon fear, then you are being herded. The question is, who is herding you?”
When I think of a country being self-governed by people who have forgotten how to seek something, in favor of running away from something, I get a bit nervous.
There’s plenty to not want, and we can talk about that, too. But, far more importantly…we must know what we want for ourselves, our loved ones, our country and our planet.
Generating ideas is hard for us. Partly because it’s just plain challenging to think up new ideas. Partly because a “want” is a risk. After all, you might not get it. But…
…the presence of “wants” is actually the presence of LIBERTY.
A free person indulges in imagination and wants and dreams and hopes. Thank you, Martin Luther King, for being free! A dominated, put-down, intimidated and controlled person becomes highly averse to any independent desire…because the chance of achieving it is so low and the risk of disappointment is so high.
Do you value your freedom? Then, be free.
Freedom is the opposite of something given to you.
Freedom is an attitude, a way of being, a choice.
Freedom is internal.
Martin Luther King was more free, while sitting in that jail cell penning his next great speech on a pile of toilet paper, then most Americans are on any given day…
So.
